The London Mastaba, Serpentine Lake, Hyde Park 2016 - 2018

Serpentine Pavilion 2018 designed by Friday Escobedo

London is always full of exciting events and exhibitions throughout the year, however, we feel the summer months especially bring out some of our favourites.

The Serpentine Gallery never fails to offer a vast selection of art. This year on the Serpentine Lake is Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s temporary floating sculpture, The London Mastaba.

The pair are famous for their ambitious sculptural works that intervene in urban and natural landscapes. The stunning installation is created with barrels and completely alters the visual appearance of its natural surroundings.

This year the Serpentine Pavilion was designed by Frida Escobedo. Escobedo played with the use of light, water and geometry and focused on bringing together the domestic architecture of Mexico and British materials. We were particularly interested in the use of the movement of the sun which bounced the light and shadows around the area, creating completely different spaces throughout the day.
