Mental Health Awareness Week

Posted by Lighting Design International on 14 May 2021

“When our mental health is good, we feel emotionally well, able to look after ourselves and able to engage with the things that we care about. When we struggle with our mental health, we can feel overwhelmed and unable to cope, which can make it difficult to manage in our daily lives. A 2018 survey by the Mental Health Foundation found that almost three quarters (74%) of people have at some point felt so stressed they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope.1 For some of us these difficulties may come and go, and for others they may be more long-lasting.”

This year, Mental Health Awareness Week focused on Nature. We encouraged the team at Lighting Design International to get involved and either take a photo, plant a flower, or draw a picture. Anything to help connect one with Nature and to get creative.

The Corona Virus has had an enormous impact on the world and people’s mental health over the past year and has affected people in many different ways.

With the focus being on Nature, this has played a massive part for all of us, walking/cycling/being outside when we were able to help lift our spirits and help with relieving stress in our day-to-day lives.

Below are a few examples of the team’s contribution over the week.
